Actions

All communities have community connectors. They are active community members who value participation. They span boundaries that exist in a community between groups and organisations. Connectors:

  • Identify and relate to people not connected in the community

  • Connect people with other people, information, groups and organisations

  • Enable people by providing emotional, social and practical support as well as education and advocacy

Resources

Here are two short films with connectors talking about what they do and showing some community connectors in action.

Places and objects

These are places, things or organisations that can connect people. They sit across organisational and social boundaries. They are things like:

  • Library

  • Community garden

  • Neighbourhood House

  • Men’s shed

  • Exercise programs

  • The local newspaper

  • A community Facebook page
